Spiral Arms is an exhibition that brings together the practices of Sarah Chow, Thomas Jeppe, Shaun Motsi, and Ceylan Öztrük. These artists delve into layers of popular imagery and mythical storytelling, tracing cultural scripts across different times and mediums. Through abstraction, they transform these scripts into new forms of meaning, materializing prophecies of bio-geo-political phenomena.
The concept of spiral arms evokes the orbits of a galaxy, symbolizing a fertile shape that continuously generates new interpretations. It represents an ancient protocol being reimagined and executed, a material that reinterprets the information it holds, or emotional fragments from personal experiences woven into familiar narratives. The exhibition explores the boundaries of the new and the ways in which we reinterpret existing narratives.
