Milieu Exhibition: "Winds of Change"

As part of the current exhibition "Winds of Change" at Milieu, artist Yamu Wang engages in email conversations with guests to discuss neoliberal conditions in daily life. Conversations with guests like Barbara Preisig and Edwin Nasr delve into topics such as care work and resistance. The exhibition explores the intertwining of care work and office work, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on daily routines. Barbara Preisig, an art historian and critic, reflects on the challenges of balancing work and care responsibilities during the pandemic. She highlights the systemic relevance of care work and the shifting dynamics between paid work and caregiving. Preisig also discusses the gendered aspects of care work and the importance of questioning traditional gender roles within relationships. In a conversation with Edwin Nasr, the focus shifts to Lebanon's political and economic situation, particularly in the context of the ongoing uprising. Nasr reflects on the roots of the uprising in decades of neoliberal governance and sectarian-clientelist rule. He discusses the challenges faced by protesters in navigating the complexities of the current crisis and the potential for a more radical form of opposition to emerge. The discussions with Preisig and Nasr shed light on the broader themes of social and political change, gender dynamics, and economic precarity within the context of the exhibition "Winds of Change" at Milieu.
