Rossella Biscotti

For her solo presentation at the Kunsthaus Baselland, Rossella Biscotti premiers her five-channel video installation "The City," 2018, based on her extensive research and filming of the Çatalhöyük archaeological site in Konya, Turkey. The exhibition explores the relationship between the neolithic community that built the earliest urban center known to date and the archeological community that has been excavating it over the past twenty-five years. Biscotti's work delves into the socio-economic changes, urban forms, burial rituals, and division of labor in this ancient society, contrasting it with modern methodologies and societal constructs.

Rochelle Feinstein

Rochelle Feinstein's politically charged and humorously dense body of work challenges the meaning of painting in contemporary society. Her anti-hierarchical approach to painting explores cultural and political connections, using speech bubbles, critical comments, and key words to engage the viewer in a direct and engaging manner. The exhibition at Kunsthaus Baselland focuses on Feinstein's recent works, including pieces created during a residency in Rome, with maps playing a central role in her exploration of disorientation and obfuscation in a post-2016 US election context.

Naama Tsabar

Naama Tsabar's installation at Kunsthaus Baselland features three bodies of work - Transition, Works On Felt, and Barricade - that blur the lines between visual and sonic art. Transition canvases, made of cables and electronic components, emit sound when activated, creating a unique sensory experience. Barricade, consisting of microphones arranged in a triangle formation, explores the spatial dynamics of sound transmission. Works On Felt series combines materials like carbon fiber and piano strings to engage the viewer physically and sonically, challenging traditional art boundaries and inviting interactive participation. Tsabar's work addresses gender roles, power dynamics, and the sensory experience of art, culminating in a performance that extends the artwork into a choreography of movement and sound.
