"«L'arcobaleno riposa sulla strada» at Istituto Svizzero" is a group exhibition featuring artists Pascale Birchler, Miriam Laura Leonardi, Hunter Longe, Lou Masduraud, Luzie Meyer, and Ser Serpas. The exhibition explores the connections, shared themes, and hidden genealogies between the works of Meret Oppenheim and the contemporary artists. Meret Oppenheim's fascination with dreams, the unconscious, and transformation is evident in her diverse body of work, which includes paintings, drawings, objects, sculptures, and poems.
Meret Oppenheim's artistic practice was influenced by her engagement with the unconscious, as inspired by the teachings of psychiatrist C.G. Jung. The exhibition title, "The rainbow rests in the streets," references a line from one of Oppenheim's poems and sets the tone for exploring the connections between her work and that of the contemporary artists. The selection of artists for the exhibition follows intuitive connections and thematic premises, inviting viewers to engage in passionate discussions sparked by the artworks on display.
Lou Masduraud opens the exhibition with a fountain sculpture titled "Spit kiss from earth," which reflects on the symbolic power of water in urban spaces. The exhibition also features works by Pascale Birchler, who explores hidden realities and transitions, and Miriam Laura Leonardi, who delves into translation processes and material transformations. Hunter Longe's sculptures highlight the interconnectedness of living organisms and geological evolution, while Ser Serpas presents poetic assemblages of found objects.
Luzie Meyer's video work, "Acute awareness," combines analog black-and-white photographs with poetic text, incorporating lines from Meret Oppenheim's writings. The exhibition creates a dialogue between the past and present, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of transformation, unconscious exploration, and the fluidity of artistic expression.
