In his artistic work, Gustave Didelot imagines a “World of Painting”, a kind of utopian, benevolent parallel universe, nourished by both artistic and personal references. This environment of shimmering colors features characters whose typology evolves over the course of the works, while retaining the same simplified mask-faces and frozen expressions. His recent paintings show these ungendered characters, in jester's costumes, peacefully going about their daily activities - gardening, partying, resting, playing. The playful element, the predominant theme of this new series, is echoed in the exhibition's scenography. As in a video game, the artist has designed a life-size prize trail, rethinking the circulation of the site and reserving surprises for those who discover them.
