Chloé Delarue presents her solo show "TAFAA – BLUE LIGHTS TENDERNESS" at Windhager von Kaenel. Delarue's work over the past five years has focused on sculptures and installations under the title TAFAA - «Toward A Fully Automated Appearance». This syncretic system of perception delves into the realm of total automation, merging emotions, tangible elements, and behaviors through technological processes.
Delarue utilizes a diverse range of materials in her creations, including cannibalized technical objects, neon lights, tin, glass, and metal. Latex is a recurring element that connects these assemblages, bathed in various illuminations that alter our perception.
The objects in Delarue's work serve not only as raw materials but also as contemporary witnesses to technological advancements from cybernetics to the present. They embody a sense of residuality, reflecting obsolescence and becoming relics of a bygone era.
Curator and art critic Adeena Mey discusses the abundance present in Delarue's work, envisioning scenarios of a future where data centers fail, mirroring real-life events like the flooding of bitcoin farms in China. TAFAA acts as an archaeology of this debris-filled horizon, integrating metal frames, carcasses, and hardware.
TAFAA blurs the line between reality and simulation, prompting viewers to question the boundaries between the two. Delarue's sculptures and installations subtly manipulate perception, inviting contemplation on the nature of our technologically mediated world.
